The Ministry of Culture and Information warned against rap songs which use “filthy” words in breach of social and moral values, Akhbaar24 reported.
It announced that it would take required legal action against such indecent songs, vowing to hold accountable media outlets which broadcast them.
“The ministry will investigate any violations at entertainment events and take action against violators,” said official spokesman Hani Al Ghafili.
He pointed out that measures will be taken against violators even when they post their “indecent rap songs” on YouTube.
The ministry took action on violations committed by Saudi bands using rap songs for settling scores, incitement and racism, instead of songs which carry social messages.
