PARLIAMENT and Shura Council Affairs Minister Ghanim Al Buainain informed MPs that Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan would not attend debate on the findings of a probe committee on free visa workers after receiving a phone call from an MP telling him it would be postponed for two weeks.
“Mr Humaidan received a phone call from an MP informing him that parliament would postpone debate because the committee chairman Adel Al Asoomi, who is also Arab Parliament vice-chairman, is on an official trip in Paris and he wants to be present,” he said.
This brought an uproar in parliament as MPs demanded that the issue gets discussed.
“Probe committees are a failure, their outcomes are a joke, and mostly they are just old boring stories compiled in non-cohesive order,” shouted MP Khaled Al Shaer.
This prompted others to silence him as parliament chairman Ahmed Al Mulla called for order, while tense arguments ensued.
