Work permits in Saudi Arabia will only be issued after there is a valid residential rent contract. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Housing added that the lease contract should also be registered in the Ejar network.
The decision to link the two is an implementation of a Cabinet’s resolution which instructed the Ministry of Labour and Social Development not to issue or renew work permits without a lease contract registered in the Ejar network.
The two ministries agreed on starting the implementation of the new resolution from September.
The agreement between the two ministries aims to ensure expatriates’ documentation of lease contracts in the network.
