Abu Dhabi: Popular Egyptian actress Zeina has been fined AED10,000 for assaulting the daughter of an Egyptian-born American tourist at a hotel in Dubai.
A court in Dubai also charged the Egyptian-born family with involvement in the brawl and handed a similar fine (AED10,000) to them.
The Public Prosecution charged 38-year-old Zeina, whose real name is Wisam Ridha Ismael, with assaulting and insulting the American family and referred her to the court.
Zeina and her 41-year-old sister were accused of attacking and insulting the American man and his wife last June 29 when they thought the family was filming them on video during their outing at Dubai Atlantis's Gold Lounge.
A witness said that he was in the hotel restaurant when he saw Zeina screaming at the 12-year-old girl before hitting her on her hand.
The girl’s father - a 47-year-old lawyer in the US - claimed that he heard the actress screaming at his daughter in Arabic telling her she was an animal.
He said that his daughter was actually filming her five-year-old brother near the swimming pool and that she did not know the actress, according to Emarat Alyoum.
