Abu Dhabi: A leak in the sewage disposal pipes has caused water contamination at the Horizon Towers in Ajman, according to Khaleej Times.
Crown Prince of Ajman and chairman of Ajman Executive Council Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi ordered an investigation into the source of water contamination.
Ajman Municipality today announced results of the inquiry into the incdent which affected four towers of a residential building, leaving 190 people sick.
The tenants of the residential building, including 80 children, were admitted to various private and public hospitals in the emirate.
Humaid Al Mualla, acting director of the health and safety section at the municipality, said that the contamination had happened in one of the underground tanks.
The municipality is waiting for final results of further tests to ensure that the water is safe.
