MANAMA: Thinksmart, an ICT training service provider, has launched the new Blockchain Centre of Excellence in Bahrain, a major initiative that will cover blockchain trainings, consultancy, research and events.
As the first activity under the centre, ThinkSmart organised the inaugural edition of the Certified Blockchain Expert training programme.
More than 25 senior officials from key organisations in Bahrain like Garmco, Benefit Company, Al Nadeem, Information and eGovernment Authority, Information Affairs Ministry, Bahrain Polytechnic and others took part in the three-day course at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Bahrain Bay.
The programme was billed as the ideal start for anyone wanting to gain understanding of the blockchain concept, cryptocurrency, data mining, data security and smart contracts.
The successful completion of training provided delegates with certification from the Blockchain Council, an international organisation for blockchain research.
The training is supported by Tamkeen for Bahrainis.
ThinkSmart group chief executive Ahmed Al Hujairy said: “With blockchain technology gaining good momentum in the region and especially in Bahrain, we have already incorporated trainings and awareness sessions around this subject.
“We will bring international experts and speakers for such sessions and I will encourage everyone in Bahrain to come forward and be part of this centre and move forward together in this area,” he added.
