Dubai: Residents in Dubai can now check their criminal status in financial cases and travel bans by visiting Dubai's online portal.
The aim of the online service is to help residents, who are held up at airports due to travel bans by the police for financial cases, know their status.
This free-of-charge service was launched by Dubai Police last year. Its aim is to save time and reduce procedures.
The service works by visiting the Dubai Police website or downloading the app, inputting their name and Emirates ID number.
They will later be alerted if there's a travel ban and be advised to go to the police station to help them clear out any financial charges.
Consequently, the travel ban would be removed.
The Judicial Department in Abu Dhabi also has an online service that allows residents to know if they're wanted by the Public Prosecution for any claims against them.
“Through #DubaiPolice website, users can inquire about their criminal status in financial cases, as well as travel bans, registered in #Dubai_Police stations or judicial authorities in #Dubai,” says a tweet by Dubai Police. A video explaining on how to use the service has also been uploaded on the Dubai Police Twitter handle.
