Bahrain: Hundreds of people are expected to take part in a kite-flying event tomorrow at Sakhir’s Samarkand’s Tent.
The second annual Mega Kite Festival and Mini Bazar, organised by Shree Gujarati Samaj Bahrain in co-ordination with VIVA, marks the Hindu harvest festival Makar Sankrati.
It will be held from 9am to 5pm and also feature two bouncy castles, free face-painting, activities for children, live music and 30 vendors displaying a range of products.
Kites will be available for sale at reasonable prices at the venue.
“The sky will be filled with colourful kites,” said Shree Gujarati Samaj member Hiren Pandya.
“Last year, more than 2,000 people took part in festival.”
The event is open to people of all ages. Entry is free for society members and non-members will have to pay BD2.
All proceeds will be used for future charity work and services. The event will be held in association with 104.2 Your FM and powered by Mumbai Spices.
