Bahrain: TURKISH superstar Halit Ergenç took to the stage last night at the Bahrain National Theatre.
The renowned actor and opera singer performed a mix of English and Turkish hits, ranging from songs from Turkish historical drama series Hareem Al Sultan in which he stars, as well as Frank Sinatra’s My Way, The Show Must Go On by Queen and Skyfall by Adele, among others.
He was accompanied on stage by the Cinema Symphony Orchestra conducted by Serdar Yalçin.
The sold-out performance was part of the Spring of Culture festival, organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and the Economic Development Board.
The annual festival started last week with a performance by the Lebanese Carcalla Dance Theatre’s Kan Ya Ma Kan (Once Upon A Time).
The two-month line-up includes a variety of singers, dancers, performers and acrobats over 54 acts and events.
It will run until April 25 and also include performances from Gregory Porter, Kadim Al Sahir, Seal, and L’Orchestra Di Piazza Vittorio’s Carmen Secondo.
Tickets for the Spring of Culture shows are on sale at the festival’s official kiosk at City Centre Bahrain or online through the festival’s website, www.springofculture.org.
