Los Angeles: Actress Drew Barrymore is making transition from movie to small screen and has signed up to headline a Netflix comedy titled 'Santa Clarita Diet'.
The 41-year-old '50 First Dates' actress will star opposite Timothy Olyphant, reported Aceshowbiz.
In the single-camera project, Barrymore and Olyphant will play Sheile and Joel, a married couple who are real estate agents leading vaguely discontented lives in the LA suburb of Santa Clarita.
The story takes a turn when Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending both their lives down a road of death and destruction...But in a good way.
Writer Victor Fresco has penned the story.
""The genius casting of Timothy and Drew, combined with Victor's unique comedic sensibility, will delight, and definitely surprise, our members around the world," Netflix vp original content Cindy Holland said in a statement.
The new series is expected to premiere in 2017.
