Construction work at BP Oman’s Khazzan natural gas project is now 65 per cent complete and production is expected to start by the end of 2017, a report said.
The output from the field is set to add about 40 per cent to Oman’s natural gas supply, reported Times of Oman.
“BP Oman’s work at Khazzan will make a huge contribution to Oman’s energy supply, improving both energy security and the county’s foundations for industrial diversification,” Yousulf Al Ojaili, president of BP Oman, as quoted as saying in the report.
“This responsibility drives all of us to make sure the project delivered safely, on time and on budget. The passing of the 65 per cent completion milestone is a testament to our commitment and ability to achieve this,” he added.
BP Oman is a lead partner in the project with a 60 per cent interest, while Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production holds 40 per cent, the report said.
