UAE: People convicted of insulting and desecrating the UAE flag publicly will face tough legal measures.
Under law decree 13 of 2019, which was issued recently, convicted violators will face 10 to 25 years in prison and fined no less than AED 500,000.
The tough penalties apply to anyone who insults, desecrates or damages the UAE federal flag.
The same tough penalties will also apply to violators who insult the flags of any of the seven emirates making up the UAE, the flag of the GCC, the flag of any GCC member state or the flag of any other country.
The law decree on the UAE flag, which was issued recently, considers such an act as a state security crime.
