THE first batch of stranded Bahraini nationals will be evacuated on Tuesday from Iran which is facing an outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Health Ministry is co-ordinating with competent authorities to ensure their safe arrival and compliance with the precauationary measures to combat the virus.
“Efforts are being stepped up to take all necessary preventive measures to protect the safety of the returnees, as well as citizens and residents,” said Under-Secretary Dr Walid Khalifa Al Manea.
Competent authorities have been in contact with the citizens in Iran and their parents ever since the evacuation plan and online registration had been launched, he added.
He said that all returnees will undergo immediate on-arrival screening and tests under the supervision of a specialised medical team as per WHO protocols and recommendations.
They will then be taken to quarantine centres or isolation venues for treatment, based on results of the lab tests.
The ministry noted that all quarantined individuals are being monitored and cared for by a specialised medical team, in line with guidelines established by the World Health Organisation (WHO), to guarantee the health and safety of the community.
The ministry reiterated the importance of all individuals returning from Iran and other Covid-19 affected countries, to schedule their mandatory medical examinations by visiting www.moh.gov.bh/444 or calling 444.
Separately, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) last night hailed the Central Bank of Bahrain directives calling all banks and financial institutions to consider rescheduling loans and postponing loan instalments.
“The directives came to mitigate the negative economic impact of the spread of the cornoavirus on the vigour of the national economy and to safeguard the interests of the people of
Bahrain and the national economy,” said a statement.
The premier business body stated it assigned a team that will work with various government bodies, to probe the impact of coronavirus on the national economy and propose recommendations.
