A PROPOSAL to slash kindergarten and private school fees by 65 per cent was submitted by MPs yesterday.
Five MPs led by Adel Al Asoomi said school fees should not be paid when there are no classes.
Educational and training establishments have been closed for more than two weeks until the end of the month to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
“Parents are already making alternative education arrangements and cannot bear additional costs,” said Mr Al Asoomi.
“We understand its not the school or kindergartens’ fault, as they have high overheads.
“They should only collect 35pc of the total fees under the present circumstances.”
