Each year in my apartment, the maintenance of air conditioner (AC) is my problem, not the landlord’s, and each year it is a nightmare.
This year is no different. The ACs are taken away with the promise of servicing. When they are returned, you pay the price of maintenance with a verbal guarantee which is not effective.
On one of my ACs, they said it was so bad that they could replace it with another very good one at a price of BD65! They gave a guarantee of two months too. Just before the guarantee expires, it encountered a problem. Now they say, “The guarantee does not cover that problem but we can sell you another for BD40.” And so it goes on.
I am sure it is a way to make quick money at a time when you depend on cooling. It is a racket which needs to be looked at. Is it not time for the government to step in?
