Bahrain: Initiatives that add value to the oil and petrochemical industry to help boost exports were highlighted at a conference that began yesterday.
The ‘Latest Advancements in Refining and Petrochemical Industries Conference’ is being held under the patronage of Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza at Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa in Seef.
National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) secretary-general Dr Ahmed Al Sharian opened the conference which also focuses on the need for Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) to modernise refineries to ensure oil revenues remain stable.
The three-day event, co-organised by OAPEC, Japan Co-operation Centre Petroleum and Noga, and supported by Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and Bapco, also underlined the need to depend more on profitable oil wells to reduce production costs, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
