Bahrain: His Majesty’s representative for charity work and youth affairs and Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has been chosen as the “Arab Giving Knight”.
The fourth Arab Giving Forum – Zayed Giving Initiative – honoured Shaikh Nasser in recognition of his humanitarian and charity works. Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan patronised the symposium held by the Arab Organisation for Social Responsibility for the first time outside the UAE.
The ceremony was attended by Al Ghad Youth Association chairperson Princess Noof bint Faisal bin Turki Al Saud, RCO secretary general Dr Mustafa Al Sayed, Arab Organisation for Social Responsibility chairman Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Bazea and other senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Humaidan said the honour acknowledges Shaikh Nasser’s charity and social initiatives.
The minister highlighted Shaikh Nasser’s crucial role in promoting RCO ever since he became its chairman.
He said Shaikh Nasser, through his strong will and firm determination, promoted Bahrain in charity, social and sports sectors.
Mr Humaidan also praised the leadership for promoting voluntary and charity work in Bahrain.
Mr Al Bazea presented the award to Dr Al Sayed, who represented Shaikh Nasser.
He also honoured Princess Noof, UAE Ambassador for Humanitarian Work Dr Reem Othman, UAE Dar Al Ber Society, Sudan’s Dal Group and Mr Humaidan.
