Doha: In an apparent jibe at Donald Trump, Qatar Airways’ CEO Akbar Al Baker says if he becomes the US President, it will come out to be hoax what the US President hopeful is saying these days.
Akbar Al Baker believes Donald Trump would change his stances if he becomes the President of the United States.
Though Akbar Al Baker described Trump as a friend, he added, “It’s all smoke and mirrors with Donald.”
The CEO of one of the top airlines Akbar Al Baker said, “It's all smoke and mirrors with Donald. Donald is a businessman - at the end of the day he will see what is in the best interest of his country. And if the best interest of his country is to create more competition, whatever he is saying which is anti-immigration, anti-Muslims – this is all just to appease the right of the voting population.
“Once he becomes President – if he becomes a President – I think he would be clever not to go the path that he has been beating the drums about. It is detrimental to his own interests and detrimental to the interests in general of United States’ people.
In December, the airline executive said that Trump would ‘not be welcome’ in Muslim countries after he proposed banning Muslims from entering the U.S.
However, now the CEO is taking a more pragmatic view of Trump's policy statements.
“I'm a businessman and I will even do business with the devil as long as it's win-win for both,” Al Baker told Becky Anderson in an exclusive interview with CNN.
