Tackling problem of food waste
Think twice before you throw away excess food, because it’s easy to resolve it if you have humanity. Fill extra food in separate containers and send to needy people. In Bahrain, so many people are working for low salaries and live in labour camps and security quarters. They will accept your food and save some for next day. Most food gets wasted because restaurants are forced to throw out leftovers. If we establish a government organisation that collects leftover food, and cleanly repackages what is in good condition, we can support a lot of starving labourers (or anyone who is short of food and needs help). Food that isn’t fit to be repacked can be used to feed animals in shelters. The repackaged food can be delivered to specific camps or placed in donation fridges around Bahrain. I’ve seen some of these at Saar Mall but there’s never any food in them?

Family members can bring excess food to their working place and distribute to needy people around them, a cleaner or office boy next to you will accept food packs. After big events please don’t try to dispose off excess food. You can arrange containers and pack food neatly. Take them to labour camps and knock their doors without hesitation. They will accept your food and convey heartfelt thanks to you. Your patience and kindness are important.
