His Majesty King Hamad has paid tributes to Bahraini football hero Adnan Ayoub, who died following a battle with a serious illness.
His Majesty sent a cable of condolences to the family of Mr Ayoub, who died yesterday, praising his distinguished career.
The King highlighted Mr Ayoub’s outstanding achievements since the sixties.
He expressed deepest condolences and sympathy on the loss of the late football star, praying to God Almighty to rest his soul in vast paradise and grant his family patience and fortitude. The former Al Ahli football club – formerly known as Eagles – and national team player was laid to rest in Manama cemetery.
Mr Ayoub, who took up coaching later, also played a significant role in the development of football in Bahrain, and was also one of Ahli’s outstanding basketball and volleyball players as well as a good athlete.
