His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today received World Health Organisation (WHO) Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at Gudaibiya Palace.
He highlighted the relentless efforts of Team Bahrain’s frontline workers and supportive staff to help mitigate the impact of Covid-19.
Their commitment to safeguarding the health of Bahraini citizens and residents has played an integral role in reducing infection levels, HRH Prince Salman said.
The Crown Prince and Prime Minister underscored the importance of community awareness in supporting the kingdom’s comprehensive Covid-19 response, noting that doubling efforts and continuing to follow all
preventative measures are of the utmost importance during the next phase.
He welcomed Dr Ghebreyesus’s visit to the kingdom and the official opening of a WHO office in Bahrain.
The Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted that the opening of the WHO office will strengthen an already close partnership between Bahrain and the WHO.
He was then briefed on the WHO’s global mitigation efforts.
The Crown Prince and Prime Minister extended the kingdom’s support and commitment to the WHO’s Covid-19 response and ongoing efforts to end the pandemic.
For his part, Dr Ghebreyesus expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and for the generous hospitality.
Dr Ghebreyesus also commended Team Bahrain’s co-ordinated and comprehensive mitigation efforts, noting WHO’s interest in further strengthening co-operation with the kingdom across various health fields.
