Women were allowed back for prayers yesterday at mosques for the first time in 18 months, reports Mohammed Al A’ali.
Toilets and Wudu (ablution) areas were also opened for all worshippers on the condition that a cleaner was available.
Spaces have been left between sinks to adhere to Covid-19 protocols.
The decision was taken by the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry following consultation with the Supreme Council for Health and the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus.
Mosques were first closed on March 28 last year before being opened for men to perform prayers in staged timings starting from August.
