His Majesty King Hamad yesterday attended the World Endurance Championship which was held at the Boudheeb Global Endurance Ville in Abu Dhabi.
The 160km race was held under the patronage of UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Presidency Court Minister Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa led the Royal Endurance Team to the championship which was organised by the International Endurance Federation.
His Majesty watched the World Endurance Championship which saw the participation of jockeys from Bahrain alongside 126 other contenders representing 36 countries.
The King hailed the strength of historic relations binding Bahrain and the UAE, praising the outstanding organisation which reflects the UAE’s world standing and reputation in hosting major sporting events.
His Majesty congratulated Shaikh Nasser on winning the race and claiming the trophy, expressing pride in the global historic achievements which further enriches his record of victories.
The King praised Shaikh Nasser’s outstanding performance, which enabled him to win the championship, reflecting the standing of the endurance sport in Bahrain.
He noted that the endurance sport is deeply-rooted in the history and heritage of the region, stressing keenness to further support and develop the sport.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, expressed congratulations to His Majesty, on Shaikh Nasser’s victory.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister hailed Bahrain’s achievements in all sports fields in the regional and international arenas, especially the endurance sport, which reflects the King’s support and care.
He commended the role played by Shaikh Nasser in support sports in the kingdom, noting the outstanding performance of the Royal Endurance Team in the championship.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also congratulated Shaikh Nasser on winning the championship.
He said that the achievement is the fruit of His Majesty’s vision and directives, hailing royal support to sports in Bahrain.
