Manama: South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung has launched its latest line-up of SUHD TVs in Dubai, announcing their availability across the GCC region.
The new range comprises six models ranging from 49-inch to 88-inch and all feature 10-bit Quantum dot display technology with one billion colours.
“Our new SUHD TVs provide the most true-to-life picture quality, with the most lifelike colours, stunning brightness and exceptional contrast,” said Samsung Gulf Electronics visual display group head Sangin Ha, in a statement.
The range is headlined by what Samsung claims is the world’s first bezel-less Curved TV, the KS9500 SUHD TV.
In Bahrain, the 78-inch, 65-inch and 55-inch models of the KS9500 are priced at BD3,499.900, BD1,599.900 and BD999.900 respectively.
The statement also said the latest range has maximum brightness of 1,000 nits and higher, as opposed to the standard of 400 nits found in conventional TVs.
The 1,000 nit high dynamic range (HDR) offers “an extraordinary level of contrast between light and dark images”, it added.
The TVs are built on the Tizen operating system (OS), which the company said, “makes it easier for consumers to access content and services, from broadcast TV and movies to games and programme information, all in one place”.
According to Samsung Gulf Electronics head of marketing and retail in the consumer electronics division Haris Munif, the new range “specifically” caters to the needs of consumers in the region.
“Products are designed and developed based on extensive market research which captures feedback from consumers to better address their needs and expectations.
“The exclusive content partnerships that we have on offer are primed to deliver our customers the very best audiovisual experience.”
The content partnerships include MBC’s Shahid Plus and STARZ Play Arabia.
The new TVs come with three months-long free-trial subscription of Shahid Plus which will offer viewers a choice of on-demand exclusive Arabic series, shows and the latest Arabic movies.
The range also comes bundled with a free subscription to STARZ Play up to six months across the region for on-demand video streaming.
