LULU Group chairman Yusuff Ali MA has become the first recipient of Bahrain’s Golden Residency Visa.
The long-term visa was launched by the Cabinet last week as part of Bahrain’s Economic Recovery Plan to attract talent and boosts its economy.
His Majesty King Hamad yesterday received Mr Yusuff Ali at Safriya Palace presented him with the visa.
His Majesty praised his contributions to supporting trade, economic and investment sectors in the kingdom.
He commended the successes achieved by LuLu Group since its establishment, and its steadily-growing activities in Bahrain and abroad.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also met Mr Yusuff Ali and highlighted the retail sector’s contribution to Bahrain’s economic development.
“Enhancing the kingdom’s economic competitiveness and sustainability will benefit Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and contribute to achieving goals of comprehensive development, led by His Majesty,” he added.
“Obviously a very proud and humbling moment in my life to receive this honour today,” said Mr Yusuff Ali after receiving his golden visa number 001.
“I sincerely thank His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Government of Bahrain.”
“I am sure this new permanent residency initiative will further boost Bahrain’s image as one of the key investment and business hubs of the region as well as attract and retain new investors here,” added the prominent businessman.
The 10-year visa is open to residents and non-residents and aims to attract investors, entrepreneurs and talented individuals in various fields who can contribute to Bahrain’s ongoing success.
