The Bahrain cricket team played out of their skins to defeat the United Arab Emirates in a cliff-hanger at Oman by just two runs but failed to qualify for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup on net run-rate.
Winning the toss and batting first, Bahrain posted a competitive total of 172/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The UAE, tied down by some disciplined bowling by Bahrain's medium-pacers, ended up requiring 27 off the last over which proved too much, even as UAE top-scorer Vriitiya Aravind bludgeoned 24 off the final six balls to finish with 84 not out off 52 balls and the UAE with 170/6, just two runs short of Bahrain's total.
