THREE Bahraini siblings are in the dock in connection with a bloody brawl which was allegedly instigated when the elder brother called the younger brother “infertile”.
Two brothers, aged 46 and 53, and their sister, aged 38, appeared at the High Criminal Court where they denied assault at the family home in Isa Town in November last year.
The 53-year-old defendant’s daughter described how her uncle, the 46-year-old defendant, allegedly told her father, “I will take you to the grave”, before jumping on him and leaving him with a bloody face.
“I was in the kitchen and heard my father screaming,” she told prosecutors in a statement.
“I ran downstairs with my sister and saw blood stains on the stairwell.
Shocked
“I was shocked when I saw my uncle sitting on top of my father and hitting his face with his fists.
“I could not see my father’s face due to the blood.”
She said she tried to stop the fight but her 36-year-old aunt attacked her.
“We tried to stop my uncle,” she added.
“However, my aunt was hitting us and strangled me to stop us from interfering.
“My aunt also kicked my father and he was crawling on the ground in an attempt to evade the attack.”
Lawyer Zaheda Al Sayed, representing the 46-year-old defendant and his sister, described how the 53-year-old provoked the attack after he insulted her client.
“The elder brother started the fight when he continued to annoy my client,” she told judges.
“He made fun of him and said that he was infertile.
“My client then lost his temper and got into a fist fight with his brother.
The trial has been adjourned until Sunday for review.
