THE stage is set for Bahrain’s premier sporting event that will bring together racing’s biggest superstars with only 10 days remaining starting from today.
The F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022 will be held from March 18 to 20 at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), Sakhir.
The sporting and social spectacle will this year feature the opening round of the 2022 International Automobile Federation (FIA), the sport’s governing body F1 World Championship and it will usher in “A New Era” in the top flight for the mega event next weekend.
This is in addition to F1 Aramco Pre-Season Testing 2022 all set from Thursday to Saturday.
“The F1 community is already busy gearing up for the new campaign, and they will be giving Bahrain’s fans a sneak preview of what’s to come at the Grand Prix when F1 Aramco Pre-Season Testing 2022 starts,” said the BIC in a statement yesterday.
The tests will be the last chance for F1 teams and drivers to run their cars on track before the start of their championship battle.
Equipment has already arrived at the circuit and garages are beginning to be set up.
Meanwhile, race-goers can enjoy spectacular off-track entertainment programme for the whole family.
This will be highlighted by the back-to-back concerts on March 18, when globally renowned DJs Don Diablo and Afrojack take to the stage for separate live performances.
As part of the lead-up to F1 race this year, BIC organised a media tour last night of the F1 Village, located at Block 338 in Adliya.
This first-of-its-kind entertainment area features a host of motorsport and Bahrain-themed entertainment, music and activities.
It will welcome the public daily until March 17 free of charge.
On weekday evenings, fans can visit between 6pm and 11pm, while on weekends it is open from midday to 11pm.
There is a 2022 F1 car display, a chance to have a photo taken with the F1 World Championship trophy, an F1 “Pic Stop” and an Esports Zone.
“There is also a main stage with daily live music performances to liven up the festive atmosphere, together with DJs, roaming performers, street artists and plenty of other colourful attractions for the whole family to enjoy,” added the statement.
In addition, all F1 ticket-holders will also have the opportunity to get right in the action with F1 teams at a Pit Lane Walk on March 17 at 6pm.
Those attending will be able to experience the F1 Pit Lane and see the top flight teams hard at work in their garages as they prepare for all the action of the Grand Prix weekend.
