A BAHRAINI man sentenced to 12 months in jail for sexually assaulting a teenager has lost his appeal.
The 21-year-old was arrested after he groped the 18-year-old Bahraini girl from behind in a library in Muharraq in July last year.
He was found guilty of assault by the High Criminal Court in November last year. He lodged an appeal against his conviction at the Supreme Criminal Appeals Court, which was kicked out yesterday. “The defendant lost his plea due to sufficient evidence against him,” read the appeal ruling. “CCTV footage of the incident was submitted as evidence.”
The victim had earlier described how the assailant followed her into the library before abusing her. She confronted him outside the facility, but he claimed that he had accidentally brushed against her.
