On the instructions of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the GSA has opened registration for the settlement of the sportspeople’s outstanding dues at the national clubs, associations and federations following the conclusion of the 2021-22 sports season.
The move comes as the GSA aims to measure the level of the kingdom’s sports establishments’ commitment to settling the liabilities of all the sportspeople and workers serving under their umbrellas.
The GSA also confirmed its keenness to implement all the directives of Shaikh Khalid, which aim to promote Bahraini sports and maintain proper accounts at all the sports entities, highlighting his initiative to honour the 20 clubs that managed to fulfil all their financial obligations.
Based on the process of counting the entitlements, appropriate solutions will be studied in the event that some parties fail to fulfil their commitments. The GSA will issue a circular in this regard, including the controls that will ensure that these accumulations do not recur in the coming years.
The GSA pointed out the need to adhere to the standard contract model approved by the authority in all contracts concluded by clubs, associations and federations, which aims to protect the rights of all parties and contributes to putting an end to the accumulation of debts on sports institutions in the kingdom.
The GSA called on all athletes concerned to register through the website www.gsaplayers.com. Registration ends on June 12.
