SAUDI player Adel Al Barqi clinched the title in the 6th King of the Pins Bowling Championship winning the final match against Asian champion and national team player Yusuf Falah in a thriller.
National team player Abdullah Abdulkarim finished third in the tournament which was played at the Funland lanes.
Al Barqi scored 227 tries in the final, while Youssef Falah managed 216. The eventual runner-up qualified for the final after overcoming Abdulkarim in the semi-finals.
Other placings: 4 - Ali Al-Mas, 5 - Abdullah Al Dowlijan (Saudi Arabia), 6 - Ahmed Al Khaja, 7 - Aseel Al Roumi (Kuwait), 8 - Abdulrahman Al Khlewi (Saudi), 9 - Ahmed Farid, 10 - Khalid Samir, 11 - Hussein Gholum, and 12 - JM Villanueva (Philippines).
The tournament saw the emergence of Samir as the youngest player among the qualifiers.
Turnout
Tournament director Maryam Madra, who honoured the winners at the prize distribution ceremony, said that the sixth edition witnessed a large turnout by players from different Gulf countries.
She added. “I thank all the players who participated in the tournament, which turned out to be a great success due to the presence of many players from the GCC countries. I thank all the sponsors of the championship and the Bahrain Bowling Federation.”
Al Barqi expressed happiness on winning the title and said, “This achievement reflects the great development of bowling in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, especially in light of the tough competition in the tournament and the participation of a large number of players from the GCC countries.”
Second place holder Falah said, “The championship is of great interest to the players, which we saw in terms of the participation and strong competition among them to win the title.”
He added, “The final match was very exciting in light of the great competition during the game, and I’m happy to get second place. My congratulations to Al Barqi on winning the title.”
