The final moments of the crazed gunman who killed 39 people in the Tunisian beach town of Sousse have been captured on camera. He can be seen in the picture with an AK47 walking the streets of Sousse. The gunman is believed to be a 23-year-old aviation student, Seifeddine Yacoubi, from the Tunisian city of Kairouan.
At least five British tourists were killed in the massacre and the number is expected to rise. Among the deceased are Lorna Carty from Ireland and 60-year-old James McGuire. Details have also emerged of a heroic tale of a British man who was shot thrice in the back as he tried to save his fiancée, using himself as a human shield.
An Eyewitness who apparently sat right next to the gunman has come forward and given an interview to the TV channel ITV. Ellie Makin, who was on holiday with her friend Debbie Horsfall, said she saw a gunman pull a weapon from an umbrella right next to them on the beach while they were sunbathing.
She told ITV News: 'He was to the right of me because we were on the last sun bed on the beach. All of a sudden I got up anyway and just happened to look right and all I saw was a gun and an umbrella being dropped.
'Then he started firing to the right hand side of us. If he had fired to the left I don't know what would have happened, but we were very lucky.'
According to a report by a Tunisian radio station, a 16-year-old British boy reportedly saw his parents and grandmother slaughtered by the gunman and possible accomplices. The boy is being treated for his injuries in hospital.
