A family had the scare of a lifetime when they found one of the most venomous snakes in the world under their Christmas tree instead of gifts from Santa Claus.
The family from South Africa had quite a unique Christmas weekend when they discovered a six-and-a-half-foot Black Mamba slithering out from their Christmas tree. Thankfully, no one was hurt and snake removal expert Nick Evans was called to ensure that it was caught.
Nick Evans is often called to private homes to remove snakes that might have crawled in on its own. After a successful catch, he posted a picture of the snake in front of the Christmas tree.
"Santa left me an early Christmas present, although not at my house, no, under someone else's Christmas tree in Queensburgh," Evans wrote on Facebook.
"Well, actually, the snake was outside when it was disturbed by the gardener. It then moved away from him, out of fear, saw the open door, and ducked inside. From there, it went up the Christmas tree and onto a small shelf above it.
Then, while I was on my way, it slithered back down the tree, and hid at the bottom, behind a speaker, " he added.
The Black Mamba is the second-largest venomous snake in the world and one of the fastest snakes on land. Its venom is potent enough to kill more than 10 adults with just one bite.
