FOOTBALL – THE Bahrain Football Association (BFA) held its first meeting of the newly elected board, chaired by BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
The gathering took place at the BFA headquarters in Riffa.
Shaikh Ali expressed his deepest thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unwavering support to Bahraini sports in general and to football in particular.
Shaikh Ali also praised the support and interest of His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and of SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Ali welcomed the new board members and wished them success in serving Bahraini football and leading the game to further advancement and development.
The board discussed several topics during the meeting. These included the approval of Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa as BFA vice-president; and the approval of heads of the BFA’s standing committees, namely Shaikh Ali as national teams committee chairman, Shaikh Salman bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa as sub-committee for junior teams chairman, Nayef Al Majed as competitions committee chairman, Shaikh Isa bin Hussam Al Khalifa as financial affairs and marketing committee chairman, Ahmed Al Bahdahi as media committee chairman, Raed Baba as futsal committee chairman, Ahmed Al Amer as beach soccer committee chairman, Shaikha Shaikha bint Abdulrahman Al Khalifa as women’s football committee chairwoman, Nasser Al Abri as players’ status and transfer committee chairman, Hamad Al Khaldi as legal affairs committee chairman, and Ali Al Samaheeji as referees committee chairman.
Also discussed was the approval of the BFA’s executive office members, namely Shaikh Khalifa as executive office chairman, with members Shaikh Salman bin Abdulrahman, Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Al Bahdahi.
The board also approved the appointment of Shaikh Ahmed as the BFA financial secretary.
