His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday issued an edict restructuring the National Committee for Childhood, based on the proposal of the Social Development Minister, and following the approval of the Cabinet.
According to the edict, the National Committee for Childhood shall be chaired by the Social Development Minister and comprise the following members:
1. Assistant Under-Secretary for Community Development, representing the Social Development Ministry.
2. Director-General of the General Directorate of Women’s Police, representing the Interior Ministry.
3. Head of Early Education Licensing and Follow-up Department, representing the Education Ministry.
4. Director of the Women’s Support Centre, representing the Supreme Council for Women.
5. Head of the Family and Child Prosecution, representing the Public Prosecution.
6. Director of the Radio Directorate, representing the Information Ministry.
7. Director of the Labour Relations Directorate, representing the Labour Ministry.
8. A senior resident physician in the Paediatrics Department at Salmaniya Medical Complex, representing the Health Ministry.
9. Head of the Human Rights Affairs Sector, representing the Foreign Ministry.
10. Head of the Department of Psychology, representing the University of Bahrain.
11. Head of the Youth Creativity Centre, representing the Youth Affairs Ministry.
12. The Legal Adviser at the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, representing the same ministry.
13. Executive Director of Al Sanabel Orphan Care Society, representing Al Sanabel Orphan Care Society.
14. Chairman of the board of directors of the Future Society for Youth, representing the Future Society for Youth.
The entity mentioned in item (12) shall name their representative at the committee.
HRH Prince Salman also issued Edict (10) of 2023, amending some provisions based on a proposal by the Housing and Urban Planning Minister and following the approval of the Cabinet.
According to the edict, a new article (Article II bis) shall be added to Edict (56) of 2022, promulgating the issuance of Zoning Regulations for Construction across Bahrain. It shall read as follows:
“Licence applications prepared in accordance with provisions of the Zoning Regulations for Construction across Bahrain issued by Edict (28) of 2009 shall be accepted as long as they are submitted before September 1, 2023.”
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issued Edict (11) of 2023 on restructuring the National Committee for the Elderly, based on the proposal of the Social Development Minister, and following the approval of the Cabinet.
According to the edict, the National Committee for the Elderly shall be chaired by the Social Development Minister and comprise the following members:
1. Assistant Under-Secretary for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, representing the Social Development Ministry.
2. Head of the Elderly Care Department, representing the Social Development Ministry.
3. A strategic planning expert, representing the Supreme Council for Women.
4. Director of the Pensions and Benefits Directorate, representing the Social Insurance Organisation.
5. A geriatrics consultant, representing Government Hospitals.
6. Nursing supervisor for the Mobile Medical Unit, representing primary health care centres.
7. Secretary-General of the Bahrain Philanthropic Society, representing the Bahrain Philanthropic Society.
8. Chairman of the Executive Committee – Secretary-General of UCO Parents Care Centre, representing the care Centre.
9. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Parents’ Care Society, representing the society.
10. Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Hekma Retired Society, representing the society.
The entities mentioned in items (5) and (6) shall name their representative at the committee.
Members shall serve for a renewable three-year term.
HRH Prince Salman issued another edict appointing Eman Fouad Abdulfattah Mattar as Institutional Development Director at the Foreign Ministry.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issued Edict (12) of 2023 on restructuring the Higher Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities.
According to the edict, the Higher Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities shall be chaired by the Social Development Minister, and comprise the following members:
1. Assistant Under-Secretary for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, representing the Social Development Ministry.
2. Director of the Social Rehabilitation Directorate, representing the Social Development Ministry.
3. Director of the Compensation and Unemployment Support Directorate, representing the Labour Ministry.
4. A consultant physician in Government Hospitals, representing Government Hospitals.
5. Director of the Educational Operations Directorate - District 1, representing the Education Ministry.
6. Director of the Wages and Benefits Directorate, representing the Civil Service Bureau.
7. Chairman of the Bahrain Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled, representing the Bahrain Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled.
8. President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, representing the Bahrain Paralympic Committee.
9. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Mobility International Centre, representing the Bahrain Mobility International Centre.
The entity mentioned in item (4) shall name their representative at the committee, provided their rank is not less than a director.
