THREE Bahrainis, including a father and his son, tried to brainwash people through a series of YouTube videos defaming Islam, prosecutors told a judge.
Two of the defendants appeared at the Lower Criminal Court yesterday where they previously denied the charges.
All three, who are said to be part of a cultural society, are not in custody.
The youngest defendant failed to appear in court; his father told judges that his son was studying in the UK.
“We will not stand with our hands tied as the defendants defame Islam,” a Public Prosecution representative told the court.
“They targeted Islam and mocked it in a series of videos on one of the defendant’s YouTube channels.
“We will not allow the brainwashing and polluting of peoples’ minds.
“They had no intention of studying the Sharia; they only wanted to defame Islam.”
The trial has been adjourned until Tuesday for lawyers to submit their final arguments.
