CHINA will continue to play a greater role in safeguarding the stability of the Middle East, its newly-appointed ambassador has said.
Ni Ruchi also pointed out that the China-brokered Saudi-Iran rapprochement deal is a first step towards settling regional problems with Tehran.
In a statement to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej, he said he hoped that Iran would fulfil its commitment to Saudi Arabia about the regional stability.
During a visit to the headquarters of our sister Arabic newspaper, the first since his appointment, Ambassador Ruchi said that Beijing would push towards improving relations between Iran and other countries during the coming period.
He stressed China’s commitment to support regional development and promote the policy of good neighbourliness between countries in the region.
The ambassador stressed long-standing historic relations and steadily-growing co-operation between China and Bahrain, led by President Xi Jinping and His Majesty King Hamad.
Akhbar Al Khaleej Editor-in-Chief Anwar Abdulrahman praised growing ties between Bahrain and China.
He noted that relations between the two countries preceded even the establishment of official diplomatic ties.
He pointed out that Arabs appreciated the pro-Arab policy adopted by China in the region.
