Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced eight people to jail for vandalising a restaurant and causing Dh26,000 (BD2,662) worth of damage.
In the case report filed by the owner of the restaurant, he mentioned how a man had entered his restaurant to take a soft drink and try to leave without paying, before he was stopped by a member of staff.
He explained that it led to a heated argument, which escalated into a physical fight, after which the man left saying he would return.
The man, who has been identified as Asian, did return, this time with seven others who were armed with bricks and a wooden stick.
They proceeded to break the glass facade of the restaurant, destroy its contents and the run away, but all were caught and sentenced to three months in prison, followed by deportation.
