Vin Diesel recently confirmed that the character of Brian O'Conner, played by the late Paul Walker, will be returning in the final Fast & Furious film.
“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of ‘Fast and Furious’ (in) April 2027?'” Diesel said. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.’ First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing! The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”
Paul Walker, the actor who previously played the beloved character of Brian O'Conner, died in a car accident in 2013 during the production of Fast & Furious 7. The tragic accident caused production to go on hiatus until its eventual release two years later.
In Fast & Furious 7, the film handled the actor's passing by retiring him in an emotional send-off, using his brothers as stand-ins and digitally superimposing his face onto them using deepfake technology.
It is unclear how the newest film intends to revive the character or how he would reunite with the other characters. The film has been given an expected release date of April 2027.
