AN office for the protection of victims and witnesses in cases of trafficking in persons will be set up soon by a labour watchdog.
The office will function as a point of contact with the Public Prosecution by studying and submitting requests in cases of trafficking in persons, said Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) chief executive and National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons head Nouf Jamsheer.
“It aims to protect victims and witnesses from the psychological and material damage during Public Prosecution procedures, on top of following up on the implementation of verdicts,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Ms Jamsheer added that the LMRA will continue to actively support authorities in carrying out related investigations to bring all perpetrators to justice, and ensure the safety of all.
