A university professor from Florida has broken the world record for most time spent living underwater after he crossed 74 days of continuously living under 30 feet of water.
Joseph Dituri has been spending his last 74 days at the Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo as part of a mission to research the effects of deep sea pressure on the human body.
Unlike a submarine, the lodge does not use any technology to adjust for the increased pressure while underwater.
Dituri, who goes by “Dr. Deep Sea”, states that he intends stay underwater for 100 days. He will achieve the feat on June 9.
