A 13-year-old girl from China who became addicted to online gaming ended up spending 449,500 yuan(BD23,783) on mobile games over a four-month period.
The girl from Henan province in Central China reportedly used her mother's debit card to buy games worth 120,000 yuan. She further spent an additional 210,000 yaun on in-game purchases and 100,000 yuan on games for her friends.
The 13-year-old was found out when her teacher complained to her mother that she was spending too much time on her phone in class. Once the mother checked her bank account, she realised that only 0.5 yuan (less than 25 fils) was left.
When the mother confronted her daughter about this, she admitted to purchasing the games. She reportedly said that she found a debit card lying around the house and linked it to her phone. And because she deleted all of the messages about the transaction, the mother only got to know about it until it was too late.
