BAHRAIN and Brunei have signed key agreements to consolidate their strong relations.
The wide-ranging deals aim to bolster ties in finance and investment, education, foreign affairs, women’s empowerment, cultural co-operation and cloud computing.
They were signed in the presence of His Majesty King Hamad and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, who held official talks at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei were present.
The Sultan received an official welcome on arrival after which the leaders held a meeting in the presence of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Majesty’s personal representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, National Security Adviser Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Prince Abdul Mateen.
The leaders reviewed the growing co-operation between the two countries and the main regional and international developments of common concern.
The King and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah exchanged commemorative gifts.
Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh, Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam and members of the Bahraini and Brunei delegations were present at the official talks.
His Majesty welcomed the kingdom’s guest and expressed keenness the visit would further consolidate bilateral relations.
The Brunei Sultan thanked the King for the gracious welcome and hospitality.
The two leaders also underlined resolve to avail of the investment opportunities in both countries.
The King praised the achievements made in Brunei Darussalam, under the leadership of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, which enhanced its standing and role in the Asian continent. He also highlighted Brunei’s prominent contributions to serving Islamic issues. The Sultan commended the efforts of the King to further strengthen bilateral relations.
His Majesty hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Sultan.
