The Bahrain women’s cricket team was honoured last night at a capping ceremony at Dana Mall in Sanabis yesterday, ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 WC Asian Qualifiers 2023, to be held in Malaysia.
The women have been drawn against hosts Malaysia, Qatar, Nepal, UAE and Bhutan in the qualifiers.
The team will leave Bahrain on August 25 ahead of their first match against Qatar, to be played on August 31. They will then proceed to face Nepal on September 1, hosts Malaysia on September 3, UAE on September 4 and Bhutan the following day.
The top two teams in the group will qualify for the semi-finals, with the winners of that match progressing to the Global Qualifier next year. The top two teams from the Global Qualifiers will play in the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh next year.
