His Majesty King Hamad yesterday received at Safriya Palace Lord Mayor of the City of London, Nicholas Lyons, who is on a visit to the kingdom.
The King affirmed the depth of the robust Bahrain-UK relations that span more than two centuries, praising the steady progress of bilateral co-operation and joint action across the financial, banking, economic and investment fields, given the fact that the two kingdoms enjoy a distinguished status among global financial, economic and trade circles.
His Majesty underlined the important role played by the private sector in bolstering financial and economic co-operation, benefiting from investment opportunities, and establishing joint projects in vital sectors to achieve mutual benefits.
The King referred to the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the United Kingdom recently, which contributed to broadening Bahraini-British co-operation.
He affirmed the kingdom’s continued support for the investment atmosphere by ensuring all facilities and capabilities to investors and financial institutions operating in the country, as well as providing the necessary legislation and advanced infrastructure to ensure the success of investments, thus strengthening Bahrain’s position as a major centre on the global financial and economic map.
