HORSERACING – Victorious Forever horse Wimbledon Hawkeye triumphed last night in the Group Three Prix Gontaut Biron Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes, held at Deauville-La Touques Racecourse in France.
The four-year-old bay colt won the nine-furlong race, and claimed €36,600 in prize money, for trainer George Scott with jockey Christophe Soumillon in the saddle – continuing the fine results this international horseracing season for the Victorious Forever stable, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Wimbledon Hawkeye powered to the victory by a neck ahead of runner-up Map of Stars, competing for Wathnan Racing, Francis Henri Graffard, and James Doyle, while First Look took third place amongst the eight-runner field, also for owners Wathnan Racing, trainer Andre Fabre, and jockey Mickael Brazalona.
