The owner of a popular chain of pet stores launched an investigation, dismissed an employee and publicly apologised after a video of a cat apparently being mistreated at one of its facilities went viral amid a storm of public outrage.
Posts circulating on social media showed a California Pets employee allegedly mishandling the pet called Casper that had been brought in for a grooming appointment, resulting in the animal bleeding from the mouth when its owner came to pick it up .
