The guitarist for one of Bahrain's oldest and most prominent contemporary bands died yesterday in the hospital.
Khalid Al Thawadi, a member of the Brothers Band which was led by the late Ali Bahar, died yesterday afternoon at Salmaniya Medical Complex. He was 62.
According to the Bahrain Musical Bands Society media director Salem Saif Salem, Mr Al Thawadi had been in the hospital for the last month due to undisclosed medical conditions, because of which he was unable to walk.
After picking up the guitar during his childhood in the 1960s, Mr Al Thawadi became amongst the most accomplished guitarists in the GCC and tributes poured in after news of his death was announced on social media.
His funeral details will be announced once his brother Mohammed returns from Qatar, according to Mr Salem.
