THE Bahrain Chamber (BCCI) has appointed two board members to the newly created position of board representative for member affairs and complaints to bridge communication gaps with the private sector.
The decision, made during the board’s 31st session chaired by Nabeel Kanoo, names board members Abdulwahab Yusuf Al Hawaj and Rashad Ibrahim Zainal to the roles.
Commenting on the appointments, Mr Zainal said that the initiative underscores the chamber’s commitment to monitoring the direct needs of local businesses and relaying critical market insights to government authorities.
“The board of directors views complaints and feedback received from business owners as an important source for understanding the realities and needs of the economic sectors,” Mr Zainal said. “The chamber does not treat these as isolated cases, but rather as indicators that help identify common issues.”
The new representatives will be tasked with reviewing periodic reports on private sector challenges and submitting formal recommendations to the board to shape future legislation and commercial procedures.
To support the initiative, the BCCI has also launched a dedicated Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Support Department.
The unit will institutionalise the complaint-handling process, study recurring market bottlenecks, and liaise directly with designated contact points across government agencies to expedite resolutions.
