A woman has been arrested after her alleged reckless driving resulted in the death of a pedestrian in a traffic accident on Zallaq Highway, according to the Public Prosecution.
It said in a statement yesterday that the accused was reportedly driving carelessly and disregarding the rules as she went into the emergency lane, where the pedestrian was running and crashed into him.
He died at the scene of the accident as a result of multiple injuries.
Following a report of the incident, the Public Prosecution opened an investigation where they interrogated the accused over the cause of the accident.
She has been detained as a precautionary measure, and the victim’s body has been delivered to his family, who have been given permission to bury him.
The case has been referred for trial, with the first session set to be held on Monday.
